Spaceport Nova Scotia?

The Toronto Star reports this morning that PlanetSpace has signed an agreement with the government of Nova Scotia to develop a spaceport in the province for the company’s planned orbital vehicle. As reporter Scott Simmie writes:

…Nova Scotia has signed a “team agreement” to provide 300 acres of land – and perhaps even some funding […]

Visiting Spaceport America

Wired News’ Jason Silverman pays a visit to Spaceport America, whose limited infrastructure “looks more John Ford than Jetsons.” Much of the article is about preparations for the New Mexico spaceport’s first launch. a UP Aerospace, including the installation of a hydraulic launch rail nicknamed “T Rex”. Things didn’t go smoothly, but after a little […]

Spaceport boom town

An article in an El Paso alternative newspaper, Newspaper Tree, describes a boom taking place in Las Cruces, NM. What’s causing the boom? It turns out that retirees are flocking to the city as a low-cost alternative to locales in Arizona and Florida, although writer Jeff Berg had this to say:

British media, such as The Scotsman newspaper, reported that Scotland is being considered for a Virgin Galactic suborbital spaceport, in particular an existing air base, RAF Lossiemouth. Warning: architectural snobbery ahead!

This is actually an old article, but only discovered it recently. It appears that some architectural critics are less than enthused with the designs for spaceports in New Mexico and the UAE. Or, as the headline puts it, future space tourists “will be flying out of the most crap-ass ground-based aeronautical terminals ever conceived.” (One […]
